"You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden."
Matthew 5:14
Salt & Light is a Young Adult discipleship group at St. Thomas Aquinas united in the vision of bring others closer to Christ. Our world is in constant flux, and as young adults, We are uniquely positioned to make a profound impact in these ever-changing times. Each one of us is fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God. We are not an accident or a random occurrence; We are masterpieces of the divine creator, created with a purpose.

The lord has called you here
Being a disciple of Jesus means living differently than the world around us. It means standing firm in our faith, even when the prevailing culture tries to pull us in other directions. Jesus called us to be the "light of the world" and the "salt of the earth" (Matthew 5:13-16), which implies that we are called to be different, to stand apart. Embrace this call to holiness and be courageous in living out your faith boldly, even when it sets you apart from the crowd.
The call to evangelize is about authentically living out our faith and sharing the love of Christ through our actions and words. St. Francis of Assisi wisely advised, "Preach the Gospel at all times. When necessary, use words." Let your love, compassion, and joy be a living testament to the transforming power of Christ in your life. The world needs your light, your love, and your commitment to following Christ. So, Be bold, be different, be set apart.

It’s Time to Play Defense Against the Enemy.
The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis is a satirical Christian novel written as a series of fictional letters from a senior demon, Screwtape, to his inexperienced nephew, Wormwood. Screwtape mentors Wormwood on how to tempt and corrupt a human soul (“the Patient”), guiding him in subtle ways to lead the man away from God (“the Enemy”) and toward eternal damnation. The book offers deep theological insights with wit and irony, making readers reflect on their own faith and the unseen battles of the soul.
Through these letters, we will explore themes of temptation, spiritual warfare, human nature, and God’s grace—often revealing how everyday struggles and distractions can be used against us.
join us for this new and exciting Young Adult Book Study on C.S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters. Meeting every Thursday, starting Feb 20th, 2025 at 7pm in the JPII Youth & Young Adult House.
